With burgersand shakes named the Drunken' Onion, Sin City and Velvet Elvis, Crave is not your average fast food joint.
Owner and Head Chef of Crave Real Burgers, Jeff Richard, opened his first Crave location in 2010 in Castle Rock after a conversation wtih his two young sons. "My kids wanted to go to one of those crazy burger places you see on T.V. They said, "Dad, you should open a restaurant like that," Richard said. Richard graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and was already owner and chef of a fine dining restaurant in Castle Rock. "I wanted to start cooking for 95 percent of the population rather than 5 percent." Five years and four locations later, Crave hit the one million burgers sold mark in June of 2015. Crave uses an open floor plan and open kitchen so customes can see exactly how their meal is being made. Crave strives touse all natual ingredients, Colorado ground beef and Colorado alcohol. Fried eggs, lamb, pork and peanut buter are all toppings involved in Crave creations where donuts, grilled cheese and pizza slices serve as "buns."
Crave complements its zany burger concoctions with a gourmet line of alcoholic and non-alcoholic milk shakes using Carpigiani's 191 P/SP soft serve machine. Because Crave service up to fifty shakes an hour, Richard needed a unit that could keep up with demand and still provide an excellent product. "Carpigiani's 191 is saving us money. The overrun is awesome and I haven't had to replace a blade in six months," Owner Richard said. Crave offers decadent shakes like NY Strawberry Cheesecake, S'More and Velvet Elvis that include peanut buter, bacon, banana, cupcake, graham cracker and more. Crave also offers an alcoholic line of shakes for adult customers like Bananas Foster, Grasshoper and Black forrest. Crave sells around 300 gourmet shakes per day.
