Carpigiani Gelato Museum: World Preview Carpigiani Gelato University trains "Gelatieri for a Day"

Carpigiani stages Tuscany's largest ever artisan gelato production area. Inside the Leopoldine cloister 28 gelatieri will produce their best flavors. Among them, 6 students who will battle for the "Young Gelatiere" prize

The Carpigiani Gelato Museum, the first museum dedicated to the history, culture, and technology of artisan gelato, will open in Anzola dell'Emilia in July 2012. On 23-27 May 2012 Carpigiani, annual participant at the Florence Gelato Festival, will provide a special preview of the museum dedicated to the history of gelato in Florence. The ambitious project, becoming an international point of reference for the sector's history, will enjoy a spot inside Alinari Museum. Special thanks go to Silvana Vivoli who generously made available to future generations unique objects from her family's Florentine business.

The exhibit will be enriched by interactive and multimedia stations, and visitors will have the chance to design the cone of the future, participating in the "Designing Gelato Cone Evolution" contest organized and promoted by the Bruto and Poerio Carpigiani Foundation. Exceptional judge, Tom Dixon. The winners will receive 2 special scholarships (2500€ each, given by Babbi and Carpigiani Gelato University): they will be announced in July 2012. For details, go to:

Carpigiani Gelato University presents "Gelatiere for a Day" courses, one-hour workshops (23-27 May 2012 at 12:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm, and 8:30pm). The apprentice gelatieri will have the chance to create their own sorbet, starting from fruit and using the latest Carpigiani machine, Freeze&Go, the little batch freezer designed for restaurant chefs who want to create high-quality artisan gelato in small batches. There are 60 seats in each course.

But that's not all. This year the Florence Gelato Festival will showcase young talent. There will be 6 gelatieri competing for the Young Gelatiere prize, all trained by Carpigiani Gelato University.

Carpigiani has staged the largest gelato production area ever seen in Tuscany for all the gelato makers (experts and young talents).
