On March 24th, a day dedicated to gelato culture celebrated throughout Europe

Europe united by gelato! It has happened on March 24th of every year since 2013 for the European Gelato Day, and for each edition an official flavor has been designated to be interpreted in thousands of participating gelato shops. 2019 is the year of the Tiramisu, and a very special celebration is scheduled for Sunday, March 24th at FICO Eataly World in Bologna, the world's largest agri-food park, in partnership with Carpigiani Gelato Museum, Fabbri 1905 and the Santi Palazzolo gelato and pastry shop. Throughout the day at Palazzolo's visitors can order the special “Tiramisu with chocolate crumble,” specially developed by the Sicilian pastry chef and featuring the Amarenamisù flavor made together with Fabbri 1905. In the Fabbri store visitors will find another special gelato, a luscious variation of the original recipe. The staff of the Carpigiani Gelato Museum has organized a full day of workshops for gelato lovers, to be held in the Carpigiani Gelato University production space. It all starts at 10 am with a workshop for children aged 6 to 12, who will be challenged to produce gelato on a stick. At 11 am students will learn the basics of gelato and how to make the Tiramisu flavor. At 12 noon the instructors of Carpigiani Gelato University will teach how to recognize and enjoy good artisanal gelato. Two appointments are scheduled for the afternoon, the first at 2:00 followed by another at 4:30, dedicated to the creation of a sorbet starting with your favorite seasonal fruit. The European Gelato Day was born in 2008 from an idea of Longarone Fiere and Artglace. On July 5, 2012, the European Parliament officially established the "European Artisanal Gelato Day," emphasizing that "among fresh dairy products, artisanal gelato represents excellence in terms of quality and food safety, promoting the agri-food products of each individual member state.” In fact it is the only "Day" that the European Parliament has dedicated to a food so far. Every year a flavor is selected that represents one of the countries of the Union and that unites all the European gelato parlors for 24 hours.
